So, the country's had a pretty eventful week. Didn't watch the news all weekend due to either drunkenness or being hungover, then wake up on Monday morning and realise that all hell has broken loose. The way these riots were carried out is absolutely despicable, looting and burning down small, family businesses, and innocent peoples homes. I'm all for an uprising against the government, I have a lot of things against David Cameron and the things he stands for, but if you're going to riot about taxes, and cuts, then go and burn down fucking parliament! Not your own run-down communities! People are dying because of this mindless violence, and that makes me sick to the stomach. I do agree that something needs to be done about the unrest in the country, and the poor/rich divide that is only getting worse, but this was the worst way to go about it. The only positive thing that seems to have come from all this madness is double the number of people as those who had been rioting came out to clean up and sort out some of the chaos. Sort of reminds me of the moral amongst people during the Blitz... apart from the really fucked up difference that in this situation we're cleaning up the ruins that our own citizens have caused.
Well, that's the rant over, has also been fuelled by the incredible lyrics of The King Blues, their albums Save the World, Get the Girl, and Punk and Poetry are absolutely amazing, pretty much all I've been listening to for the last couple of weeks.
Something needs to be done about the bloody Conservatives, but not the way riots were carried out this past week.
